Former BI Governor Perry Warjiyo May Be Questioned in Corruption Inquiry

TheIndonesia.co - Indonesia's anti-corruption agency has not ruled out questioning former Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo as part of its investigation into alleged corruption involving corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds distributed by Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Speaking on Tuesday, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said any decision to summon witnesses would depend on investigators' needs rather than an individual's employment status.

"Witnesses are summoned based on what investigators believe they know about the case and how their testimony could help uncover the facts," he said. "A person's retirement from office does not automatically mean they will be called for questioning."
Mr Budi said investigators were continuing to gather evidence and urged the public to follow developments in the case.

He added that the agency aimed to establish a full picture of how the alleged misconduct occurred, saying the findings would also be used to strengthen governance and corruption prevention measures.

The investigation centres on the distribution of corporate social responsibility funds — known as the Bank Indonesia Social Programme (PSBI) and the Financial Services Authority's Financial Services Counsellor Programme (PJK) — between 2020 and 2023.

According to the KPK, the case began after it received a report from Indonesia's Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (PPATK), along with complaints from members of the public. A formal investigation was launched in December 2024.

Investigators have since searched several locations, including Bank Indonesia's headquarters in central Jakarta and the offices of the Financial Services Authority, as part of the inquiry.

In August 2025, the KPK named two members of parliament, Satori and Heri Gunawan, as suspects in the case. Both currently serve in Indonesia's House of Representatives after previously sitting on the parliamentary commission overseeing financial affairs.

The questions over Mr Warjiyo's potential involvement come a day after the Presidential Office announced that he had stepped down as Governor of Bank Indonesia. The announcement was made on Monday by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, who also serves as President Prabowo Subianto's spokesperson.
