Gen Z Impact Fest 2026 was successfully held at the Gadjah Mada University Club (UC) Hotel, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Yogyakarta, on Saturday (12 September 2026).
Under the theme “Empowering the Next Generation,” the festival, initiated by Suara.com, SKM Bulaksumur, and Kagama Persma, provided a collaborative space for hundreds of young people to address challenges ranging from the digital and financial sectors to careers, the creator economy, digital safety and environmental issues.
The event featured an opening session, interactive discussions, conferences, exhibitions, talk shows, entertainment and a Creator Showcase. The festival also coincided with the 35th anniversary of SKM Bulaksumur UGM.

In his opening remarks, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto highlighted the importance of developing a “thinking generation”. He said easy access to information and artificial intelligence (AI) must be accompanied by strong critical thinking skills.
“Young people should not only become technology users, but also be able to create technology, jobs and new opportunities. Campuses should be places where we encounter real-world problems, conduct research and create meaningful work,” Brian said.
UGM Vice Rector Arie Sujito echoed the importance of critical thinking, saying Gen Z’s unique perspectives are a valuable strength in understanding social change. He also stressed the importance of creating safe spaces where young people can express their views without pressure or intimidation.
Meanwhile, Suwarjono, President Director of Suara.com and Chairman of the Gen Z Impact Fest 2026 Organizing Committee, said the forum was designed to respond to the rapid transformation taking place across various sectors.
“Gen Z needs to stay up to date with technology, while being creative, innovative and adaptive. The main point is that transformation is changing all of us, and we need to keep evolving,” Suwarjono said.
SKM Bulaksumur Editor-in-Chief Zefanya Lovi Peacela Tangka and SKM Bulaksumur Founder Didik Supriyanto also reaffirmed the student press’s commitment to adapting to the changing information landscape while maintaining credibility.
