Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan Gets Award from Singapore Government

TheIndonesia.co - Jakarta Special Capital Region Governor Anies Baswedan received an award from the Singapore Government for his contribution to the country's development and bilateral relations between Indonesia and Singapore. Baswedan shared the moment of receiving an award sign that Anies is the 72nd recipient of the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellow program on his social media account.

"On behalf of Indonesia and Jakarta, thank you for this honor," said Baswedan on his personal Instagram account @aniesbaswedan in Jakarta, Wednesday, September 14, 2022. "This fellowship is a big responsibility, we hope to continue to collaborate to strengthen relations between the two countries and with Jakarta in particular."

Meanwhile, based on a written statement from the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Baswedan is scheduled to be in the country with the "Lion Statue" icon until September 15, 2022. While in the neighboring country, he is scheduled to meet Singapore's Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore's Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, and Singapore's Minister of Transportation S Iswaran.

He is also scheduled to attend a banquet with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong and Coordinating Minister for Social Policy Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Then, with Minister of Education Chan Chun Sing and Minister of Health Ong Ye Kung.

LKYEF was founded in 1991 and invites prominent figures to Singapore as fellows. "The exchange has helped promote collaboration and build dialogue and deepen bilateral cooperation," the Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
