TheIndonesia.co - Bank Indonesia (BI) has confirmed that all regional governments in Bali have implemented digital financial transactions, supporting greater transparency and efficiency in local financial management.

"All regencies and cities in Bali Province are now fully digital," said Erwin Soeriadimadja, Head of BI's Bali Representative Office, during the Baligivation 2025 event in Denpasar on Wednesday, according to Antara News Agency.

He noted that local governments across Bali are increasingly adopting non-cash payments, particularly for taxes and service fees.

Buleleng Regency received the top award from the Regional Digitalization Acceleration and Expansion Team (TP2DD) for the best digitalization performance in the Java-Bali region. Meanwhile, the Bali Provincial Government was recognized by Bank Indonesia for the best national implementation of non-cash payments.

"This is strong progress in improving efficiency and financial governance at the regional level," he added.

According to central bank data, at the start of 2023, only four local governments in Bali used the Indonesian Credit Card (KKI), with transaction volumes totaling Rp116 million. By 2024, all nine regencies and cities, along with the provincial government, had fully adopted KKI, with total transactions reaching Rp2.23 billion.

Bank Indonesia praised the Bali government for making digitalization a key priority in regional development.

To support Bali’s vision as a digital island, Erwin emphasized three strategic pillars: collaboration, connectivity, and ownership.

He also outlined four key actions for improvement: strengthening regulatory support (including through the Bali Governor’s Circular on accelerating ETPD and optimizing KKI), expanding digital payment acceptance in tourist areas, enhancing digital infrastructure, and improving public education and protection—particularly in understanding and mitigating risks of digital transactions.
