Shidqi said that ES was found guilty on August 12, 2021, of committing a criminal act of abandoning his family in August 2015 in Cot Iri, Gla Meunasah Baro Village, Aceh Besar District.
His punishment was carried out based on an order from the Head of the Aceh Besar Prosecutor.
Shidqi explained that ES was found guilty of violating Article 49 letter A, Article 9 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 23 of 2004, regarding the Elimination of Domestic Violence. He was sentenced to one year in prison.
ES appealed and the appeal judges decided that he was sentenced to prison for eight months on August 12, 2021.
"Today, ES is still an ASN at one of the sub-district offices in Banda Aceh City," he said.
ES was found leaving his wife and children for more than four years without providing livelihood and other supports to his family.
The man was suspected of having an affair with another woman that crumbled his relationship with his wife.
"ES also had an unregistered marriage with another woman when he left the house," said Shidqi.
Shidqi added ES was not detained during the trial process because he was considered cooperative. The man has been sent to the Jantho Aceh Besar Prison.
