Bali to Limit Foreign Tourists Visit on Christmas, New Year Holidays

TheIndonesia.co - The Bali Government plans to limit foreign tourist visits during the Christmas and 2022 New Year holidays as an effort to curb the transmission of COVID-19, considering the last year-end holiday caused a spike in the number of positive cases.

The head of the Bali Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, said that the government is preparing strategies to prevent the increase of tourist visits to minimize the risk of Covid-19 transmission. One of the plans is to limit foreign tourists to a maximum of 1,500 visitors per day.

"This is one of the plans to prevent the third wave of the COVID-19 in Bali," said Bagus to Antara on Monday, 15 November 2021.

Bali has reopened its international doors on 14 October 2021. However, the place is only open for tourists from 19 countries. As a requirement, foreign tourists must undergo a quarantine.

Tabanan Regent, Komang Gede Sanjaya, said Tabanan continued to monitor the implementation of health protocols at the tourist attractions.

He stated that tourist attractions in Tabanan have prepared masks and managed the distance between the tourists.

"I came to Ulun Danu, and I saw that the health protocols were good. Now the tourists use PeduliLindungi application that makes it easier for us to check whether the tourists have been vaccinated or not," said Sanjaya.

Tourist site management in Bali also applies the government's COVID-19 app PeduliLindungi to check the health status of the tourists.
